This was our first ecommerce site (although it has been re-developed several times since that first venture). In fact we used to own before it was sold in 2005.
This site is a great example of what a simple ecommerce website should be. It has fast and easy access to products making it easy to order products as well as offering potential consumers much more information in the "guides" section.
The story
There was taxi driver who gave a lift to a lecturer in business. The two of them got talking on their brief journey together.
The passenger, being the helpful sort, proceeded to tell the taxi driver some of the latest ideas floating around and what he should do to expand and build his taxi business.
It all sounded like good information. The books the taxi driver had been reading had said similar things.
All was going well until the taxi driver asked: “With all this knowledge, you must have made a fortune in business – what company do you have?”
The passenger replied, with a sheepish look, “None.”
The Lesson
The lesson in this story: we don't want business advice off people that have never run their own successful business! If it were Richard Branson in the taxi - we might listen. We like to get information off people that have proven what they are saying is true and works.
